How do Grid Events work with my Home Energy System? How does it interact with my settings?

Once your device is connected during the WeaveGrid registration process and you've successfully enrolled in a program, WeaveGrid will schedule events when your battery will be asked to discharge energy to reduce strain and load on the grid.

How it works

WeaveGrid receives event notifications from its utility partners. The event notification includes a start time and duration. WeaveGrid will then translate these instructions so devices enrolled in the program can perform as expected during the event. 

WeaveGrid will not alter your system's configuration or performance outside of the event. Your home energy system will be asked to discharge energy during the period of the event in accordance with the program's terms and conditions.  

Managing your system preferences

Your home energy system may offer additional configuration parameters, such as:

• Smart Charging: WeaveGrid will not control your battery's charging at this time. Even if WeaveGrid is aware of your utility's rate structures and which rate you subscribe to, we will not optimize charging to the lowest-cost period. 
• Pre-charging ahead of events: WeaveGrid will not instruct your battery to charge ahead of an event. However, your system may offer settings or intelligent controls that detect when an event is scheduled and charge in advance. You can maximize your ability to claim program incentives by making sure your battery is charged ahead of time.
  • >>Note for Enphase Battery Systems 
    Enphase will switch your battery to Full Backup mode six hours before each event start. Your battery mode will revert to the original settings once each event is complete. These changes will occur automatically before and after each event.
• Storm and other major event preparation: Some home energy systems receive external signals notifying them of major weather events. If enabled, the system will then charge and maintain that charge in preparation to act as a backup system. WeaveGrid will not alter this configuration. Batteries in this configuration may still discharge if an event is called. If they do, the battery would then charge back up immediately after the event is over.

How to override
